The El Galeon Visits Greenport

The last two weeks of October, 2016, the El Galeon was moored and open for visitors on the grand dock of Greenport. Though Greenport is host to Tall Ships once a year during their Tall Ships Festival (the dates for this festival change from yeasr to year, so please visit: wwww.LongIslandHotSpot.com/destinations/greenport for upcoming dates) few ships rival the beauty and awe of this vessel.  Also, you can find Greenport Restaurants and anything, where you want to visit in Greenport.

In 2006, The Nao Victoria Fundacion undertook a special project to reconstruct, to scale, a 16th Century Spanish Galleon. Since her completion, El Galeon has sailed the world, and found an American homeport in beautiful Saint Augustine, Florida.

The crew of El Galeon, still living aboard the ship 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, serves daily tours to those interested in feeling under their feet the awe of a 170 foot sailing vessel once used in the golden age of Western expansion into the Americas.

The goal The Nao Victoria Fundacion is to spread the knowledge and experiences of the sailors and explorers from their ancestral past, and to offer the once in a lifetime experience to peer into the hearts of legends of the past. If you get the privilege to board the El Galeon feel free to ask their friendly crew members anything that stirs your curiosity.

You may visit www.elgaleon.org  for more information as well pictures and videos.
